Hyndburn Over 50's Forum

Lesley Jackson is Chair of the Forum with Dorothy Westell as Vice Chair, and along with the management committee they continue to work at promoting the Forum.

Their main aim remains to highlight the contributions older people make to our society and economy and to support older people by monitoring the services provided for them by making representations where they are called for. Older people have valuable experience to share and to this purpose are encouraged to attend meetings and events and become involved in sharing information, ideas and good practice.

Membership is free, and is open to all Hyndburn residents.

The forum meets every six to eight weeks, for further details contact Delys Ashton, Forum Secretary on 01254 231901 or email delysk@talktalk.net

Full of Life

The Hynburn Over 50s Forum will be celebrating UK Older People's Day 2012 with Full of Life events including a celebration lunch.

The day highlights the contribution older people make to our society and economy, and tries to tackle any negative attitudes and stereotypes by bringing different generations together to promote a more positive view of later life.

The main aims for the day are to:

  • celebrate the huge contribution older people make to our society and economy
  • create a positive view of later life and tackle outdated stereotypes
  • raise awareness of the opportunities and entitlements for older people across society
  • older people don’t feel excluded or isolated from the rest of society

Planning is already underway – contact the secretary for more information or to book a place.
