Board Members

Arthur Bateman

Arthur was nomiated by Hyndburn Better Government for Older People (BGOP)of which he is Chairperson. Arthur represents the Accrington area, Over 50s and people with disabilities. His interests are education and social care.

Arthur is a representative from the community sector on the Hyndburn Local Strategic Partnership Assembly Board.

Arthur is also a member of Hynburn Community Network's Human Resources sub-group.

David Sanderson

David has been a grant making director of a national grant-making foundation for seven years working alongside a wide range of voluntary sector organisations. He is a trustee of the Arthur Rank Centre (part of the Agricultural Society of England) and also a trustee of the Community Foundation for Lancashire.

David is also Vice Chairperson of Hyndburn Community Network, and a member of the Network's Core Management Team.

Kevin Gibson

Kevin was nominated to the Board by Oswaldtwislte St Mary's FC of which he is Secretary. He represents Oswaldtwistle and Children & Young People. His interests are sport.

Kevin is also a member of Hyndburn Community Network's Health and Safety sub-group.

Lesley Jackson

Lesley was nominated to the Board by Rishton Old People's Welfare Association where she is a committee member. Lesley represents Rishton and the over 50s. Her interests are community safety and Lesley represents the Community Sector on Hyndburn's Community Safety Partnership. Lesley also attends Hyndburn Inter Faith Forum and Hyndburn Over 50s Forum.

Lesley is also a member of Hyndburn Community Network's Core Management Team.

Martin Hartley-Smith

Martin is a Director of CanWe Solutions a Community Interest Company linked to Child Action NW and has worked in the voluntary sector for about 10 years. Martin has strong all round skills in finance, marketing, governance and human resources. He will bring to the Network his previous experience as a business advisor for Business Link East Lancashire and his knowledge and skills from running his own design and print business for 8 years.

Martin is also Hyndburn Community Network's Treasurer, and a member on the Network's Finance and Marketing sub-groups.

Michael Wolstenholme

Michael was nominated to the Board by the Christian Institute Oswaldtwistle where he is an Elder. Michael represents Oswaldtwistle and the Faith Sector. His interests are community safety and education.

Michael is also a member of Hyndburn Community Network's Human Resources, Marketing and Health and Safety sub-groups.

Nazmun Usman

Nazmun is the Vice Chairperson of Woman’s Voice, the Community Engagement Manager at Beardwood Humanities College and a member of Blackburn Neighbourhood Learning Board. Nazmun has 18 years experience in community development/community engagement, capacity building of communities, community cohesion, raising achievement and faith issues.

Nazmun is also a member of Hyndburn Community Network's Core Management Team, and the Human Resources, Marketing and Health and Safety sub-groups.

Pamela Haralambos

Pamela is the Business Manager at St Christopher’s CE High School. Pam has experience of the voluntary sector, parent teacher associations, assisting and supporting grant applications, parish councils, working with disaffected teenagers in an Asian community and Young Enterprise in East Lancashire. She has taken part in lobbying Government on unitary authority status for local authorities and has previously worked with Chambers of Trade when employed by a national retail organisation.

Pamela is also a member of Hyndburn Community Network's Core Management Team, and the Finance, Human Resources and Health and Safety sub-groups.

Peter Shaw

Peter was nominated to the Board by Laneside Residents Association of which he is the Chairperson. Peter represents Accrington and all diversity groups. His interests are community safety, enterprise, health, economy, employment & regeneration.

Peter is the Chairman of Hyndburn Community Network and is also on the Network's Core Management Team, and the Finance sub-group.

Peter also represents the community on the Local Strategic Partnership Assembly Board, of which he is the Chairperson. As Chairperson of the LSP he sits on the Performance & Delivery Group.

Staff

Anna Maciejewska - Migrant Community Development Officer

Anna has recently been appointed by Pendle Community Network as Migrant Community Development Officer and will be based at Hyndburn Community Network to work with migrant communities across Hyndburn and public sector service.
Her post is funded through the Improving Reach programme.

She migrated to England from Poland and her background was teaching English at primary school level. In Poland Anna was a volunteer on one of the government funded projects supporting children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Anna is interested in helping migrant communities integrate within the local community by building their confidence and providing them with the information of services that the Network, Pendle Community Network and their strategic partners provide.

She is working on two projects: the Improving Reach Project and the Citizens Together Project which is part of the Migration Impact Fund in Hyndburn.

Barbara Sharples - Network Manager

Barbara joined the Network in September 2005 as Community Network Development Officer.

Barbara has a background in economic regeneration, business development, advertising, public relations, marketing and education.

In March 2007, Barbara became the Network Manager.

Barbara's interests are community, environment, culture & leisure and children & young people.

Martin Bradley Rural Development & Training Officer

Martin comes from a background of working within community development and working with older people in day care centres. He is keen to help rural communities improve their skills and to ensure that communities feel confident to express their views and opinions . His job will involve informing groups about Hyndburn Community Network and about local and regional government strategies and how these impact on local rural areas.
