Why does Hyndburn Community Network get involved with the Local Strategic Partnership?

Hyndburn Community Network brings together voluntary, community and faith sector groups, especially those who are marginalised or excluded, and provides the link to the LSP -Local Strategic Partnership.

How does Hyndburn Community Network get involved with the Local Strategic Partnership?

The Network provides the LSP with several members ensuring that the voluntary community, and faith sectors are able to contribute to decisions made about local issues and service delivery. Outcomes of issues talked about at the LSP and the contribution made by Hyndburn Community Network will be reported back to our membership in the Network newsletter, eBulletins and website. Representation from the voluntary, community and faith sector will be: three from the voluntary sector; four from the community sector and two from the faith sector. In addition there will be representation for specific groups: one for older people, two for BME, one for disabled people and one for the priority wards.

What is the Local Strategic Partnership?

The Local Strategic Partnership Assembly Board is the LSP for the borough of Hyndburn. Its primary purpose is to bring together organisations in the public, private, voluntary, community and faith sectors in Hyndburn to improve the quality of life for all those who live or work in the borough.

The partnership (LSP) will provide a single, over arching framework to co-ordinate activity to promote the social, economic and environmental well being of Hyndburn and its citizens.

What are the aims and objectives of the Local Strategic Partnership?

The Partnership has the following aims and objectives:
• To exercise a broad strategic oversight across service providers and other partnerships in Hyndburn, to ensure that their activities are compatible and mutually supportive.
• To facilitate the development of common aims and priorities amongst its members
• To encourage the operation, co-ordination and development of partnership working in Hyndburn, including partnerships and agencies whose area of concern is wider than Hyndburn.
• To adopt clear and measurable targets for its activities and ensure, as far as possible, that its actions and those of its members lead to and enhance a cohesive and sustainable community.
• To encourage the development, co-ordination and ongoing improvement of local public services that are responsive to local needs
• To encourage, when appropriate, a co-ordinated input from Hyndburn into wider sub-regional, regional and national initiatives to ensure the best possible outcomes for the Borough

What are the functions and responsibilities of the LSP?

The Partnership has the following specific functions and responsibilities:
• To oversee the development and implementation of Hyndburn’s Sustainable Community Strategy.
• To oversee the implementation and further development of more specific strategies, action plans and programmes within the overall Sustainable Community Strategy
• To lobby for and promote Hyndburn to a wide range of Government and external funding agencies
• To assist in the delivery and performance management of the Lancashire Local Area Agreement and Neighbourhood Renewal
